Registering a child birth

Registering a child birth in Alberta all you need to know is:

• Your child's date of birth- must be younger than 1 year old
• Your child's full and complete name
• The name of the hospital or the full address of the location where your child was born
• Social Insurance Number for the mother/person who gave birth, if applying for the Canada Child Tax Benefit
• Payment, if you want to apply for a birth certificate for your child

While completing this registration, you will have option to apply for following:

• Canada Child Benefits
• Social Insurance Number
• Order a Birth certificate ($40 each)
